Hi Jen, Today the rain has stolen my energy so I am going to write in English. Hope you don't mi
nd.
Union Square is in downtown San Francisco, near Chinatown and the financial district.
Thank you for complimenting my Chinese. I was in China for five years and was fortunate enough t
o have many friends always helping and encouraging me to learn more. I am grateful to have the c
hance to practice because there are not too many Chinese in this city who speak Mandarin. A larg
e majority speak Cantonese only, and even then they have a typically shy demeanor where they pre
sume that I do not understand and further presume that they would be bothering me.
You know how it is, I think.
Thank you for taking the time to chat with me. I have promised a friend that I will help him pro
mote his business among Chinese speaking travelers and whether I am speaking or writing it is ea
sy for me to see that I have not practiced in a long time. I'm happy to say, now that I am readi
ng Chinese every day, the memories of being fluent are returning to me very quickly.
I have not been to Union City before. I know where it is but I have never had reason to go. I th
ink by the time your family arrives next month, the weather will be beautiful again and the city
will be full of the good energy that visitors from all over the world bring, when they return.
Best regards and have a nice day.
Andy
